August Level 1 Test and Review
August brings the hottest weather of the year and with it, another level 1 test. The test will be on August 16th at 12:30, and we are actually going to put the review two weeks before on August 2nd. The weekend in between we are actually hosting a padded assailant class from Chip Slade's Bushido Women's Self-Defense program, and I'll write a detailed post about that course next, but that's why the review and test will be two weeks apart. Most people are ready for the level 1 test after about six months of regular training. If you want to test, it is essential that you take the review to be evaluated. At the review we will cover all of the level 1 material, and most people are surprised at how demanding the curriculum is when they have to perform it in it's entirety. Most people take the review twice: once when they are getting comfortable with most of the material, and again when they are actually ready to test. If you are very early in your level 1 training I would recommend against the review, because there is minimal instruction and we move fast. However you are more than welcome to watch if you want to see the curriculum in its entirety. The reviews take 2-3 hours, but fall more towards the shorter side if the people attending are reasonably well prepared. So that's what we have coming up in August. Good luck to those of you planning to test, and we will see you in class.
