Mary did this with her bare hands in 30 minutes.[/caption] The long discussed renovations actually began yesterday at Krav Maga Raleigh. If you've been upstairs you may have noticed that the floor is missing; don't worry, that's part of the plan. We also removed the drywall wraps around the pillars, so I will have to find somewhere else to leave my mouthpiece. The planned layout is for two long training areas running on either side of the mats. Standing at the back of the room facing the door, the mats on the left will be longer but not quite as wide as on the right. We will have some sort of division between the two sides that will run down the middle of the space, in line with the pillars. That division could be a wall, curtains, panels, or some hybrid of all three. We want to minimize sound as much as possible without losing the openness that makes that space so great. The office will go where Gracie Raleigh currently has theirs set up. The space in front of the other window will be the lobby. The area with the weights will be expanded, but we are losing the fitness mats. Unfortunately there isn't enough space for three training areas, and we have to accomodate an ever-increasing number of Krav students. "What about the punching bags?" you ask. It amazes me how concerned so many people are about the presence of punching bags. Initially we will not have any hanging up. Once we get the training areas situated we'll figure out how to hang some bags, but it'll take some time. I look forwards to two weeks from now when I can look back at this post and find out how much of it actually played out the way I said it would!
