We had a great night of classes at Krav Maga Raleigh this evening, and I was actually on the ball enough to get pictures of most of them. We started with Level 3, and I don't have a picture of that, but Quintin taught, so it looked pretty much like this:   [caption id="attachment_2232" align="alignnone" width="300"]Dog tired Krav Maga Raleigh "He keeps asking for more burpees..."[/caption]   Then we had sparring and level 1. It's been really great to see the Wednesday 6:30 Level 1 class grow over the last few weeks. Different times aways see fluctuations in attendance - one season early classes are popular, and the next season they're quiet while the late classes are hopping - so we expect some of that, but it's always nice to have a big group of energetic students.   [caption id="attachment_2231" align="alignnone" width="300"]Level 1 Krav Maga Raleigh I don't have a picture of them in action, but they looked awesome tonight.[/caption]   This whole month of sparring we've been working on round kicks, both attacking and defending. This was the last class of the month, so we worked on some advanced options, mainly catching the kicks as your defense. Then we finished with some free sparring, focusing again on throwing and defending round kicks. That class has really taken off lately as well, we're almost too big for the mat. Everyone looked sharp and sparred well. We had a clash of knees but other than that people seemed to avoid hurting each other. Or they didn't tell me about it, which is just as good!   [caption id="attachment_2233" align="alignnone" width="300"]Sparring Krav Maga Raleigh An entire class of round kicks and I take a picture of everybody just standing there.[/caption]   In the 7:30 block we moved onto Level 4, where we spent the whole hour on handgun defense. In level 4 you probably spend about 40% of your time on handgun; it's by far the predominate material in the curriculum. After working on basic handgun we transitioned into 3rd-party protection, where you are defending someone else. If I know Kim, they were headed straight for the biggest stairs in downtown.   [caption id="attachment_2238" align="alignnone" width="300"]I'm sure they were just taking them outside to use as pillows. Quintin taught that one as well though, so you can imagine what it looked like:   [caption id="attachment_2236" align="alignnone" width="300"]Level 2 krav maga raleigh Just imagine them with little puppy focus mitts[/caption]   Finally we got to the 8:30 level 1 class. The 8:30 classes are another time slot that have seen a big revival lately. For many of the people in those classes it seems to be the only time they are able to come, so I'm glad that the schedule accommodates them, and that they have found us. [caption id="attachment_2237" align="alignnone" width="300"]I like all the colors, much more interesting that a class where everyone is wearing black, grey, and white I like all the colors, much more interesting that a class where everyone is wearing black, grey, and white[/caption]   So tons of action tonight, it was great to see all the students kicking butt, and thanks to all the instructors for teaching great classes. See you guys in class!
