We had a busy Saturday today, with two good regular classes and two huge workshops. Level 3/4 this morning was all in the opposite stance, both for striking and for self-defense, so I guess it was opposite day. Or it was NOT opposite day, actually. [caption id="attachment_2247" align="alignnone" width="300"]Krav Maga Raleigh I admit, this is not the best picture I've ever taken, but you can see that everyone has their right foot forwards![/caption]   Level 1/2 worked on hooks and uppercuts. I was not able to take a picture of that class, but everyone did really well.   [caption id="attachment_2248" align="alignnone" width="300"]Krav Maga Raleigh Hook His '3' is especially nasty.[/caption]   Cassie then taught a Women's Self-Defense workshop which Scott and I went to Crossfit RDU to teach a class over there. The WSD workshop was larger than usual this month; fortunately Walt and Alec came in to help teach the class, as well as probably take a bunch of shots from enthusiastic students. They did palm strikes, groin kicks, knees, choke from the front, and all the bear hugs from behind. They did the classic Krav eyes closed drills, and then finished up with some ground and pound.   [caption id="attachment_2249" align="alignnone" width="300"]Not pictured: Walt and Alec writing on the ground holding their groins. Working with them was a lot of fun because they were all in great shape. We do a lot of events for non-members - this month alone we've worked with outreach programs and a group from the real estate commission for example - and they always do a great job, but we have to accommodate people who aren't as physically fit or don't have an athletic background. This group was able to go hard for two hours, with a passable amount of coordination at the same time. We did punches and groin kicks, choke from the front, and a ton of drills. Then we added gun from the front to make it more interesting, and wrapped it all up with some eyes closed, lights out action.   [caption id="attachment_2250" align="alignnone" width="300"]Krav Maga Raleigh Crossfit RDU It's hard to see it, but everyone in this picture is doing burpees.[/caption]   All in all it was a great day of classes and workshops. I also have to especially thank Scott for setting up the Crossfit RDU workshops and coming out there with me to help teach it. Teaching with me is a pretty thankless role, since I am a little controlling when I'm running a course, but I couldn't have done it without him. Thanks to all the instructors and students who trained today, and we'll see everyone in class!
