I'd say we have to admit that we are well into the holiday season. Christmas stuff has been on the shelves since last month, and I haven't heard jingles yet but I'm sure they're out there. The holiday season can be catastrophic to your training, because Thanksgiving leads right into Christmas which leads right into New Years, and a lot of people just give up on the last six weeks of the year and say, "Well in January I'll make a resolution to train every day and then everything will be perfect." However we have to expect better of ourselves. It's very easy to say, "Oh I'm so busy over the holidays I can't train," or "The holidays are so expensive I have to save money," or "I ate so much turkey stuffing at Thanksgiving that there's no point in doing anything until after New Years." And you know what? I completely sympathize with all those sentiments. The holidays are a busy time, they are expensive, and it's easy to get buried under food and dig your way out of it later. Unfortunately all the excuses in the world don't make calories count less, or make criminals stop targeting you. You've probably worked the whole year to lose weight, get in shape, and feel safe when walking alone, and you can't let yourself lose all the progress you've made. And we at Krav Maga Raleigh can't let you do that either. If you get attacked on December 24th, that guy won't care that it's Christmas Eve and you weren't able to train that month, so could he come back in January when you'll be better prepared to fight back? The fact is that when you came into KMR you made one of the best choices of your life, which was to be healthy and safe for the rest of your days. And we will be there on the mats to make sure you stay that way, but we can't do it without you. The end of the year can be a challenging time to train, but it will also be the most rewarding if you stick with it. And if nothing else, you'll probably see your in-laws a lot over the next two months, so you'll definitely need to hit something!
