What do asteroids have in common with gun defense?
Sadly that's the setup to a metaphor, not a punchline. A few months ago you may have seen this news story about a Santa Ana homeowner who was attacked by two guys in his own home. At least one of the guys had a gun. All the homeowner had was seven years of Krav Maga. Guess who won?
I detest promoting Krav Maga through fear-mongering, but I don't have a problem acknowledging that violence does exist, and a certain percentage of us will be affected by it. It's just like watching out for giant asteroids: It's very unlikely at any moment - or even any century - that we'll be hit by one, but if we are the consequences will be so dire that it's well worth taking precautions. Self-Defense is the same way. Many people who train in Krav Maga will never have to fight somebody, but out of everyone who does, it's inevitable that some of them will.
