Today August 23, Krav Maga Raleigh goes to Iraq! Word has been going around the studio lately, but now we can officially let everyone know that representatives from KMR are headed out to Iraqi Kurdistan to make friends and share Krav Maga. Cassie and I (Ken) will be going over there with two of our enthusiastic and dedicated members: Jeremy and Joshua Moore. Jeremy has spent a ton of time recently in Kurdistan as a civilian ambassador, finding people that need help and connecting them with the people that can give it. As it turns out, a lot of folks over there think Krav Maga can help them. The primary focus of the trip is to work with refugees, specifically Yazidi women who have been rescued from ISIS. You can imagine what kind of lives they've had; but then actually, you really can't.
Once those plans were in place everyone from University students to hotel owners to security forces wanted to know more, so we'll be very busy! It's an incredible opportunity for us, and a real chance to help a huge group of people. We'll be sending pictures and reports frequently, and we hope the entire Krav Maga Raleigh community can find this experience as enjoyable and valuable as we do!
